Creative Entrepreneurship Program
The program will commence in February 2025 and offer a unique blend of workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities led by industry experts and successful entrepreneurs. Participants will learn key business skills including marketing, financial management, and strategic planning, all tailored specifically for creative industries.
In addition to the educational components, xBk is proud to partner with the Iowa Center and US Bank to offer microloans, ensuring that funding is accessible to those who demonstrate potential and commitment.

Monthly Class Schedule (Beginning on February 8th, 2025)
- Launch and Strategic Planning- Welcome and planning the basics
- Business Planning (Session 1, Rough Draft)- Intro to business planning
- Marketing and Outlets- Learn about marketing basics, social media, radio, print, and other outlets
- Finances, Accounting, and Financial Support- Making sense of money and handling income and expenses, budgeting
- Operating as a Business- What does it mean to operate as a business, and how to report it?
- Business Planning (Session 2, Revisions)- Revising and reviewing the initial business plan
- Basic Legal Considerations- Contracts, Trademarks, Copyrights, and other everyday considerations
- Music Publishing and Royalties- How does music publishing and royalty accounting work?
- Continuing Programs and Education- Where can you learn more, and how to stay on the right track going forward
- Business Planning (Session 3, Final Presentations)- Presenting the business plan to a panel of industry specialists
- Looking Forward- A roundtable discussion to close out the program and nominate participants for the next cohort
- Showcase! Your cohort has completed the program! It’s time to give out some awards, draw awareness to your projects, rally local support, celebrate their accomplishments while toasting to the future, and announce participants selected for the next cohort!
